Old Friends Canada is a horse rescue situated in Lake Country, BC, located midway between Vernon and Kelowna in the heart of the beautiful Okanagan.

This once organic apple farm now houses upwards of 10 rescuees/retirees.

We are pleased to offer the use of our grounds as a site of many of our fundraisers including tack sales, barn dances and schooling day shows. For more information on our events, please visit our Events page.

Although we wish we could take on every horse in need of retiring/rescuing, obviously this is simply not the case. Space and resources are limited and each case is reviewed by our board of directors to determine each horse’s needs and unique situations. In addition, prior to a horse being able to call Apple Flats their home as an Old Friend, these animals must be evaluated by our veterinarian to ensure they do not pose a threat to our existing Old Friends as well as to evaluate the extent of their needs. In some rescue cases, horses may be rehabilitated with the help of local trainers to find them a suitable, new, permanent home.
